ABOUT HAYLEY
A creative and resourceful series producer/showrunner, Hayley is adaptable to the diverse demands of different formats - be it pure natural history, observational, presenter-led, drama-doc or formatted factual shows.
She combines a love of science and wildlife with a flair for character-driven storytelling and scriptwriting.
A versatile leader, yet very much a team player, she nurtures new talent and has a strong track record of overseeing challenging international shoots and edit teams.
Most recent projects:
UK – a 25-min independent documentary about Heal Rewilding’s mission to transform an unproductive farm into a haven for wildlife recovery. Produced in partnership with Planet House Productions, due for launch in March 2025.
Indonesia - Leading an international filming team on location at a rehabilitation project for orphaned orangutans in 2023. Building strong narrative arcs of individual orangutan characters (and their human carers) over 6 x one-hour episodes. Navigating complex permitting issues and language barriers to achieve both broadcaster and NGO goals for the series. Remote supervision and script editing from the UK of multiple edit teams based in New Zealand. Project delivered in 2024.
South Africa – Leading a UK film crew on location at the Kalahari Meerkat Project for the 4K reboot of the global hit series Meerkat Manor 12 years on from the last of the original series. Covid threw a curveball 5 weeks into filming and the team were repatriated to the UK in March 2020. Switched to recruiting a local team of cinematographers 6 months later and story producing remotely by the power of WhatsApp (!) Analysing hours of animal behaviour footage to craft authentic yet compelling family-based storylines that capture the challenges facing these territorial small mammals (which all look the same!) Supervising multiple remote edit teams in the UK and carefully scripting dramatic and sometimes comedy storylines. Delivered in 2021. Named Factual Entertainment Program of the Year in the Content Innovation Awards 2021. Won Silver in the New York Film Festival 2022.
